New Year, New Strategy

Marketing Tips for Florists in 2026

The New Year is the perfect time to refresh your marketing approach - whether you're building buzz in-store or online. Here are three simple ways to prepare your floristry business for growth in 2026.

Make Your Shop Window Work Harder

Your window display is your 24/7 salesperson. Fresh flowers only last about a week, so refresh weekly to keep things looking their best. If you stock potted plants or orchids, they can anchor your display longer. Air-conditioned shop? Use customer orders awaiting pickup as your window display - real arrangements heading to real people always look stunning and feel authentic. If someone walks in asking for "that one in the window," show them how you can recreate something similar or design a bespoke arrangement especially for them - every bouquet has its own character, and a custom design means it's made just for them.

Consider theming your window display seasonally - a Valentine's theme a few weeks beforehand is eye-catching and can prompt early pre-orders, helping you plan stock and manage the rush.

Show Up Consistently on Social Media

Post 3-4 times a week showing what's fresh in store, popular bouquets walking out the door, and quick design processes. Use Stories for daily arrivals and "just made" moments.

Reels work brilliantly for 15-second design time-lapses or spiral technique tutorials. Try filming "a day in the life of a florist" - from your market visit and preparing the store, through to creating orders and making deliveries. This behind-the-scenes content builds connection and shows the care that goes into every arrangement.

Tag your location, use local hashtags (#[YourSuburb]Florist), and always include a clear call-to-action: "DM to order," "In-store now," or "Available for same-day delivery."

Build Repeat Business Into Your Strategy

One-off sales pay the bills. Repeat customers build businesses. Introduce a loyalty card (5th purchase discounted), promote midweek specials when it's quieter, or offer weekly corporate deliveries to local businesses. Partner with nearby cafes, salons, or gift shops for cross-promotion. Their Valentine's Day customer might need your Mother's Day florals next.

The bottom line? Small, consistent marketing efforts compound. Start with one strategy and watch your business bloom throughout 2026.
